Privacy settings for Google will be changing.  Are you aware of what these means to you?
Here is your task:
1. Read about the new privacy settings here or a bit more simplified at this site.
2. In your comment for this post describe the new privacy settings AND how you think it could affect you.
3. Find an article online concerning the new settings and summarize the article.  State your source for this article.

  1. Starting on March 1, 2012, Google will have updated their privacy settings to make searching easier for you. They will be getting rid of 60 different privacy settings on Google. These will be a lot shorter and easier for us to read. This new policy is hoped to let us search for whatever we need to search for and when we want to do so. Google's goal is to make using and searching the internet a lot easier for you to use. They will still not be able to access any of your personal information. They have not changed this! I think this will make my searching easier as long as I continue to keep searching the same thing. My concern is that when I want to search for something different, I want to read about that, not the subject I had already been searching. I think this will help a lot of people that like to search only certain topics and not just fun random Google searching.

The article states how people are concerned about how the changes will affect their searching. Andy Kellett stated, "Something I am interested in this week, I might not be interested in next week. I use Google's facilities as both a private individual and in my professional life. Which bit are they going to give back to me?". He wants to be able to get the different search results for the different uses through out his day. His biggest issue, however, is that people do not have the choice to opt out of using the new privacy settings. (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-16720406)

  2. This new privacy setting affects everyone. Now with this new setting I will be able to move around Gmail, calender, search and Youtube much more efficiently. It will make searches for projects and homework much easier. It also will give me helpful reminders when an event is coming up.

Eight members of Congress wrote a letter to Google CEO Larry Page asking for more information on the privacy changes. Google suggests that the changes will make things more simple. Law makers say that because of Google reaching people world wide, that the privacy changes touch billions of people.

  3. On March 1st, 2012, Google will be getting rid of 60 different privacy policies, and replacing them with one, easy to understand policy. The new setting will allow me to work through Google easily, and keep my information safe and private. Google will strive to make it feel like it's your Google, and remember past things you have typed and searched.

Google says there are two reasons for updating the policy. One, is to make it easier to understand for users like you and me. The second is to make it easier to connect information from all acounts into one. This way, someone can access a previously searched item from any application they may be using.

  4. On March 1, 2012 Google will be making some new changes to their privacy policy. As of right now, there is 70 different privacy policies. That makes it really hard to read over the policies. They are going to get rid of more than 60 of those. The reason is that it will make it easier for people to read the policies. The new policy affects everyone. With the new setting it will be a lot easier to move Youtube, Gmail, search, and calendar around. This will make it easier to make more specific searches which will help people find what they're looking for faster. With the new policy though, Google will still not be able to access your personal information. In my opinion this new policy will make searching much easier.

In the article I read, it stated that many people were concerned about the new privacy policy and how it will affect their searching. Alma Whitten said that, “We’re rolling out a new main privacy policy that covers the majority of our products and explains what information we collect and how we use it in a more readable way." This goes with what I was saying before. The firm also said that, "If you're signed into Google, we can do things like suggest search queries, or tailor your search results, based on the interests you've expressed in Google+, Gmail and YouTube." This will help when searching more specific topics rather than more general topics.

  5. On March 1st Google's 60 privacy policies will be simplified to just one. It will reflect Google's desire for a product that's simple but does what you want. One benefit is that when you create a document online you can easily share it with other people. It will also allow people to maneuver around stuff Google has like YouTube and gmail.

Somethings that are not as great as the others are that to use a few of their services you may need a Google account. For people who already an account different and/or additional terms may be added. But even though it has good parts and inconvenient parts, overall it is a good thing.

  6. On March 1, Google is updating their privacy policies, getting rid of over 60 different policies. The new policy covers many things. One thing is that I will be able to use Google more efficiently. Google can suggest things that you've searched before, or tailor your search results. Also, it's easier to work across Google, for documents or videos or mail. This could affect me because this will make it easier to use Google, and I will be able to do more stuff on it and use it more often.

This article is written by Shawn Hess, and states that people are making a bigger deal about Google's new privacy policy than they need to be doing. He thinks that this whole thing might just be a misunderstanding to the public. He's getting mail sent to him, making sure he understands the new policy, and worrying about their private stuff being stolen, and he doesn't really think that it's that big of deal. http://www.webpronews.com/googles-new-privacy-policy-who-cares-2012-02

  7. Google will be getting rid of their 60+ privacy policies on March 1, 2012 and be getting a new one that covers most of Google's features. This policy is going to make it easier to use all of Google's features at once. It also will suggest links to you when you're searching, based on what's been in your previous history. Youtube will also suggest videos to you when you search there. This policy is really just making Google way more convenient to use the way you want to use it.

This new policy will affect me. I will be able to use Google's features more and easily. This new Google petty much molds the way it opperates based on my interests. Sure, there will probably be some twists and turns along the way, maybe with some different account settings, but I Think I will be able to handle that.

A group of Europeans has asked Google to put their new privacy policy on hold, them saying that they needs to investigate whether the proposals sufficiently protect users' personal data. They want to check the consequences of this policy.

  8. The new Google privacy settings are easier to read and will improve Goggles services. It is also easier to share and work online. Google has made it so it fits us and not everybody in general. I think this could affect me on how well I know the private policy and will help me know about what Google is really doing. The article that I read on MSN was concerned about keeping the search results and If they really wanted it to be saved.

  10. Google will change its privacy settings on 3/1/12. Their new privacy settings will create one solid account that shares data between their applications. This means after you use Google and open up Youtube it will suggest a video based on what you have searched on Google. They store the information so they can change the advertisements you see.

It will affect me, because it stores what I do on the internet, and it will change the ads I see.

  11. Google has a goal and they want us to know that they provide as much or as little information we want. The privacy setting though hasn't changed. Google won't sell our private information without our permission. If we really wanted to sell our info, we could tell Google and they would sell it. I think that this new privacy setting could affect me if I accidentally sold my information I could have a lot of problems. People who wanted it could track where I am, and they could get onto my Facebook, things like that. The article that I found was "Microsoft Attacks Google for the new Privacy Settings". Microsoft smells danger about the new settings, and they are doing a campaign for this reason on Wall Street. This campaign has been going on for a couple of days now, and it is going to stop tomorrow.

  12. The new Google privacy policies make using Google simpler. Instead of over 60 polices they're introducing one. So when using Google with things like you-tube there is one simplified policy. In my opinion this will make Google more safe and easier to use. Google will make theses changes in little more than month. They decided to do this in 2010 when they had 70 privacy polices. It was so complicated they created this one privacy law. These changes will take place in little more than a month.

  13. Google is now making their privacy policy terms more simple and smaller to wrap up everything on Google. They are now changing their policy in one month from now to make it simpler. They will have only one policy instead of separate policies for each service. more all togetherinstead of everything has one term. This will also help eliminatea lot of confusion. This will happen when you're signed into your Google account. Like For example, if you have been searching for a lot of things to do with the planet Saturn; it will keep track of all your searches and think about how you're searching for the planet instead of the car dealership. This change can be a good thing and a bad thing. The good thing is you can have a little bit of control over everything. There's two ways to keep the search simplifier off. Either you don't log in or you can turn it off. Some bad negative things are that when you're going to a meeting and it will search where you're at, then check your calender to see if you have any appointments you might be late for, and it will inform you if you'll be late depending on the traffic it also checks. It can get into your life and maybe you want to be not not be “watched” or kept track of what when you're searching. I know this will affect me because I have a Gmail that I'm used to and I don't want it to be changed up on me like Google says it will. I want Google to stay how it is because sometimes simple really isn't that simple! I like Google how the way it is and they should keep it that way because they'll get a lot more complaints then than what they're getting now! Sources: www.businessinsider.com

  14. On March 1, 2012 Google is changing its privacy settings. It will make it easier and make it so that you like it. Google updated their privacy policy in 2010, but yet they still had more than 70. Now in March they will update it once again and make it into one. The new privacy setting will be easy to use, and fit to you! It will keep your information safe and secret. It will suggest search queries based on what you typed in the past. It will make using Gmail, YouTube, and Google+ easier and make it how you like it. Even though their privacy policy will change, their privacy principals won’t. It will keep your stuff safe.

  15. Google Privacy policies are making Google easier to navigate. If we were to post valuable information Google settings would stop us and ask again if we would really like to post it online for the world to see. This wouldn't affect me because I don't post or put anything about me or personal information online because I know it can lead to a world of hurt.

  16. Google has decided to make their privacy policies simpler by making over sixty different policies of theirs to just one single policy. They believe this will reduce some stress or confusion of going through all of the policies and it will make the whole process go smoother. The policy controls have not changed just the way it's organized. Most of the change is for people with Google accounts. When you are signed in it will be more like you are a single user even though you are signed up for different Google services. This will affect me because I have a YouTube account and also a Gmail so I will be thankful that my experience online will be simpler.www.businessinsider.com

  17. On March first Google is updating their various privacy settings into just one setting. It will make it easier to work and share online. It will remember the things you have searched in the past to help narrow your search results. This could affect me because it will make me want to use google more. It will be much more easy to use and that will motivate me to want to use it more often. Google states that their new privacy setting will improve the quality of life. When signed into Google they can suggest queries, and tailor your search results to enhance your internet experience. They will never sell your personal information or share it to others. 18. Google has a new setting. It is very advanced. It allows the user to turn on a setting that will help them link all the applications that Google has such as Gmail, YouTube, Docs, Maps, and more! Some examples of what it does are if you look up videos about football and later you search something on Google or go to your mail it will have advertisements for football gear or Rose Bowl ads. The technology today is advancing very quickly. Google's new setting allows the computer to learn us. Techland.time.com; talks about Googles new settings.

  19. Recently, Google has been working to make some changes. These changes will go into play on March 1, 2012. Most of the changes revolve around simplifying Google, therefore making it way easier to access and use. Google now has over 70 privacy documents, but by March 1st, they will have taken those and reduced them into one, more understandable privacy policy. This will make it easier for everyone. One of the biggest changes involves the Google accounts. If you are signed in and using the search box, Google will take your personal information, to relate your search results to you. Google is also announcing that they are giving users more options with the Google Dashboard and many other tools they have to offer. They also stated that they still will not share or sell any of your personal information to anyone. So Google is still a very secure search engine.

I think that these changes will affect me, because I use Google quite frequently. I actually have an account that I access often. I am excited to see the changes and to see if I enjoy having Google a bit differently! I think Google is a very reliable place to search for what you want and to get an exact answer quickly, so I also hope it doesn't change TOO drastically.

    On http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/03/google-privacy-policy_n_1253467.html
I learned how some European data protection authorities want Google to postpone their new changes. They want Google to make sure that they are not breaking any protection laws with their updates. I kind of agree that Google should check, because it would be awful if they figured out they were breaking the law! Even if it means delaying their changes, I think it would be worth it.

  20. The new settings are being set up so its easier for people to use all of the Google tools more effectively. Google wants people to be able to use all of their tools like G-Mail, You-Tube, and the Internet at one and go to one or the other much more smoothly. This could impact all of us because they will keep track of all of our searches and documents we put on Google. Google also remembers your search history so it will bring up sights that you have had interest in. This could effect me by not bringing up all sights so that I get views of everyone but with only people that have the same views as me. It could also give me only information that has similar things to recent sights i have visited. I could only get half of the information that's out on the Internet.

  21. On the 1st of March Google will be changing their privacy policy. They will be going from over 60 policies to one policy. They used to have a policy for Youtube and a policy for Gmail but now only one for all of them. They will also be able to suggest stuff. Like, if you are at a meeting and you need to go to another, they can give you a notification that says "You'll be late if you don't leave soon". I won't be affected by this that much because I don't really use Google that much. http://www.wsaw.com/home/headlines/Google_Privacy_Settings_Lead_to_Inaccuracies_138470864.htm

  22. Google is trying to make their privacy settings even better than they were before because the Google company wants you to be able to search things easier. When you are signed in Google will combine all the information you have and they will care for you as a single user on Google. For example: If you are searching the flower violet the search results will come up with flowers not the color violet. I really like this change Google made because it might be easier to search things. On http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-16720406 it says that some people like it and some don't. People are saying that if they don't like it they don't have a way to get out of it. So people don't like it like that.

  24. The new google privacy settings have taken effect. Basically what they do is they link YouTube, Docs, Gmail, and Google search together so they know what you like and so when they advertise the advertisements appeal to you. For example they would give me a video game advertisement instead of a Victoria’s Secret Ad.

My take on the new Google settings Is that I like them. Google makes a lot of money off their ads so why not make them appealing? I found several of there ads annoying or boring, but now i actually pay attention to their ads! I also like how they link everything together so It saves everything you have search or listened to on YouTube.

I agree partly with this act, because you could not knowingly plagerize and get in trouble, but it would stop those who knowingly plagerize. On BBC news it states that the acts have to do more with data. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-16720406

  26. Lately the website Google has been asking people on Google if they want to see the websites new software and privacy settings. These new changes on Google will let people get on and around Google much faster. Google is not only helping the members of Gmail and Google documents but all the people that use Google daily. They have tried to make it sound as easy as possible to the viewers on Google to understand what changes the Google compony are bringing to their website.

  27. The new settings Google is putting in place cover a couple online areas. One, Google will now be easier to use. You will be able to do what you want to do, without wasting time. Two, Google's privacy setting haven't changed. Three, Google is making it easier to share and collaborate with others. All in all, Google is still letting us do what we've been doing, but now it's easier and quicker, and Google still has a strong privacy security.

The new setting tries to make Google simpler and easier to navigate, but keeping it personal. They do this by slimming down your search results by what you do on your computer.

  30. The new Google settings are making life so much easier for people to search and find what they want to find they do that by looking into your search history to see what you want to find. So it's making it easier for us and faster. Plus Google still has a super good secure and privacy settings.
If Google didn't do this I would still have a hard time searching things for school.

  31. Just recently Google decided that they were going to change their privacy settings. On March 1st , 2012 they're going to have their new policy out. This is going to be really nice to have all your stuff safe, and sound. It will also make it easier to search; and also, do things with out breaking any laws or privacy settings. It will also make it a lot easier for kids to use the Internet.

They are making it easier to talk and share things with other users for Google users by giving them more options to communicate. They are also making Google get places faster by taking you directly to the sites that you searched.
They have tried to make Google sound as easy as possible for me, you, and all of the Google users around the world.
