  4. To start this year the London Zoo had to count all of it animals, bugs, or any thing else under its care due to a law passed. this can be a very hard task due to all of the things it supports. many animals move very fast, have camouflage, or like to hide. they also have to count all of the bugs that live at the zoo. this can take several weeks. Last year over 18,499 animals were counted. This year the zoo had two Asia lions born. There are only 450 in the wild. This is a very hard task.

  5. Sports analyst Michael Wilbon claimed the Minnesota Timberwolves wasted the first round pick of 2009 by drafting Ricky Rubio. He was very wrong! Ricky has averaged 7.9 assists per game this season. He creates many shots for his teammates. Rubio definitely has big play potential every time he steps on the court. Hopefully Ricky will be the rookie of the year this season. His impact for the fan base of the Timberwolves has made even me want to go to a game and watch him play. Overall i think drafting Ricky Rubio is only the start of whats going to be a very interesting decade of basketball for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

    1. Recently big man Dwight Howard from the Orlando Magic added the The LA Clippers to his current "wish list" of teams he would like to be traded to. The trade would be unlikely though due to the Clippers trading away a lot of there young talent to the New Orleans Hornets to acquire All-Star Point Guard Chris Paul. If Dwight were acquired the already playoff favored Clippers then they would be runaway favorites out of the west.

  24. A big subject that’s going on in the sport’s world today is Jamie Moyer at age 49, might come back to the big leagues. If so he would be the oldest active baseball player, and the fourth of all time! Moyer agreed to the Colorado Rockies minor league contract and will attend the Spring Training Camp. “I'll probably get a spring-training invitation (rather than a guaranteed roster spot), and rightly so. I don't have a problem with that” Jamie said to the Seattle Times. Jamie Moyer has a low 80’s mph fastball. Which is 10-20 mph than most major league pitchers. He’s known for a great change-up which is how he succeeds. Moyer won the world series with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2008, is going for another with the Colorado Rockies.

  27. The Egyptian government is having an extremely hard time handling their citizens. Egyptian protesters are now celebrating the first anniversary of a year long protest. Thousands have gathered in Tahrir Square, wanting an end to their military government. It hasn't been easy though. At least 900 are dead, 6000 injured, and over 12000 have been arrested and tried in court. Some of those are being sentenced to death. Only now is there action. The protesters though, want more than just a rule change, and they probably won't leave for a while.

  28. On Wednesday 74 or more people were killed after Egypt's top soccer team was upset. With 74+ killed and 248 injured it was the biggest uprising caused by soccer in Egypt, and since 1996 the whole world. One player even said, "it was like a war." Another match at the same Venue was halted by authorities because of violence; fans attempted to set fire to the bleachers. It is a sad event that Egypt instability continues after the former President lost power as a result of popular revolt.

  29. On January 22, 2012 at about 10:38 the sun had a solar flare. A solar flare is a very common thing. Basically a solar flare is when the sun has too many protons and electrons and cannot hold them all. This then can cause a very harmful amount of radiation. When this happens the surface of the sun breaks open, causing a sonic boom traveling at over 5,000,000 mph. Then that creates a very large flash of light almost like an explosion. That explosion sends tens of millions of electrons and protons into the solar system. UV radiation then enters the earth's ionosphere and disrupts long range radio communications that are operating at the same frequencies;such as airplanes, but it takes a couple of days to reach the earths ionosphere. The solar flare ended at about 12 that afternoon. Two days later, the 24th of January, the UV radiation reached the earths ionosphere. A solar flare cannot harm people on the ground but can harm people in the air, therefore there was a time period on the 24 where all planes had to stay on ground. This was recorded to be the largest solar flare since 2005 as a Long Duration M8.7 Class Solar Flare. Please visit Nasa.com and watch the video of the solar flare and you will see how interesting this Solar Flare is.
