  1. The iCloud is a new great new piece of technology. The iCloud is software created by Apple. It lets users store music, photos, applications, documents, contacts, and more. iCloud's storage is provided from Microsoft Windows Azure and Amazon web services. Instead of having your applications, contacts, photos, ect. backed up to your computer or Idevice it is backed up to the iCloud so all your data is safe!

  2. The IPhone 4s is one of the most technological devices out there. It has an eight-megapixel camera, which is amazing for a phone. Also it has a two times faster processer than the last IPhone. Also it has seven times better graphics than the IPhone 4. Another thing is that they added Siri, which is virtually your personal assistant. Siri will answer your questions and remember your dates. I found this article on Apple.com in the IPhone 4s section.

  3. iOS 5 is a new technology created by apple. iOS 5 has over 200 new software feature. Apple calls it " the world’s most advanced mobile operating system is now even further ahead of anything else". A couple of the new features are that when there is a notifications, they go to the top of the screen and go away within seconds. Another one is called the "One Swipe Access". With this you can view all of your notifications with one swipe downwards at the top of the screen. Last of many new features is the "Get there fast" where you swipe in the lock screen to view a notification that just popped up. There are many more features but there are just a couple of them. I found the article on the apple website (www.apple.com).

  4. Wikipedia is honoring the anti-piracy bills. Tonight Wikipedia will shut down for 24 hours. When you get to their site you will see messages about these bills. The shut down will begin at 12 am eastern time. The Wikipedia community voted to shut down for 24 hours in protest. In this discussion there was 1,800 people participating. This is new for Wikipedia. They have not taken political action before this. However, the Italian Wikipedia had taken a stand when Italy passed a similar law.

  5. The Mac Book Air is a great improvement on the Mac Book Pro. It is much faster and is very small and portable. It contains second-gen Core i5 processors as well as Mac OS X Lion, and a Thunderbolt I/O port for very fast data transfers. It could have more memory and it still has no SD slot but overall it is a great product.

  6. At midnight on the 18th of January Wikipedia shut down last night along with many other websites also shut down. "If you went to Wikipedia after midnight you would be greeted by anti piracy messages." As John D. Shutter wrote, the main reason behind this is that the government was trying to take over what goes on the internet, so they were trying to censor the internet. The music industry want the government to pass this law so their music isn't pirated. Although Wikipedia finds this a violation of freedom of speech. So they shut themselves down to show protest to the law because they would rather share information rather than censor it. I found this information on CNN written by John D. Shutter.

  7. I recently read an article that was published on Wednesday, January 18th , 2012. It is about three-year old, Amelia Rivera. She was denied by doctors to receive a kidney transplant because of her mental illness. Amelia has Wolf-Hirshhorn syndrome, which is a rare genetic disorder that causes physical and mental disabilities. Amelia is from New Jersey, and the hospital she was denied at is, The Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia, P.A. The doctor(s) say that she cannot have the transplant because of the “quality of life and her mental condition,” says her father, Joe Rivera. Amelia’s mother, Chrissy Rivera, can’t believe that the doctor would actually say that they won’t give her the kidney transplant because she is “mentally retarded.” It breaks my heart knowing that someone so caring to help others with illness won’t help someone with a mental disability. Others who have read Chrissy’s blog also can’t believe a doctor could say this, have started a petition online that more than 23,700 people have agreed to that says that the hospital should give this little girl a kidney transplant. The hospital did not have a comment.

  8. Astronomers today are preparing to take a stab in the dark. They want to take a picture of a black hole that is almost 4 million times as massive as the sun. It's 26,000 light-years away, but still a part of the Milky Way. To see this black hole, they need a very big telescope-as big as the Earth itself. To accomplish this they are attempting to put 50 radio telescopes all around the world. In the end, the combined power of every telescope should be enough to see the black hole.

  10. On January 20, 2012 the world's first "chimeric" monkeys were announced in Oregon. That means that instead of just have genes from 2 monkeys (the parents), they have 6 or more different monkeys' cells. There are 3 of them, and they have been named Roku, Hex, and Chimero. Roku and Hex both mean "six" in Japanese and Greek. All 3 of them are 6 months old. The monkeys are all very healthy. Aside from scientists, the monkeys are being looked after by a foster monkey mom! I found this on the website http://www.livescience.com.

  18. A recent discovery found that school junk food is not causing today’s children to be overweight. The study showed that 35.5% of those who had junk food during school were overweight and that 34.8% without were overweight as well. The study also showed that a school’s food is only a small portion of a kid’s diet. Children can get food from many different places rather than school and they usually don’t have time to endlessly eat like they do at home.

  19. Recently on January 20th on CNN news they stated that phone or tablet users are spending more time on their apps and less on the web. About a year ago phone users tended to spend more time on average of 64 minutes per day using the Web browser on their phone or tablet. And on the other hand they only spent 43 minutes on their apps. Now today they spend 94 minutes on their apps and about 72 minutes on the web. This is a result of we are spending too much time on our phones which can lead to other things.

  20. Apple wants more schools to use the Apple iPad instead of heavy 10-pound textbooks. The first reason they want more schools to use the iPad because of the free app iBooks Author that lets anybody on to an online textbook. Second, a software on the iPad called iTunes U will let teachers and students talk freely over the iPad. Third, another free app called iBooks 2 will show digital e-books for any schools. Apple is partnering with Pearson, McGraw-Hill, and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt that are major textbook companies. I think this is a good for Apple iPads to be in more schools because it will be easier for students to carry around and there will be more to do on the iPad.

It also has lots of new software which makes it easier to load to a computer, surf the web and makes watching videos and playing apps much better. There is also much more battery which makes life much easier for the user. Apple also designed a new body. it is .34 inches thick and weighs 1.33 pounds. All of these things make the iPad 2 one of the best tablets on the market.

  22. Scientist have offered up a new explanation for colder winters. Scientists are now saying that the colder the winters the warmer the summers and early falls will be. I found this info on www.sciencedaily.com

  23. I read about how scientists got a picture of a comet's death. The scientists took the picture at the right time during day time comet watching. It died because the comet flying past the sun so close that it evaporated. The comet was 150ft to 300ft and about as wide as a aircraft carrier. I think that it's amazing that scientists finally got a picture and saw a comet die. Of course it didn't really die because it's an inanimate object. But people have never actually see a comet burn up before. So this is a very important milestone in science. www.sciencedaily.com

  24. Just recently scientists have agreed to stop research on the H5N1 bird flu virus. They agreed to stop for a 60 day period over concerns that their data could provide a bioterror threat. In December, scientists from two independent groups reported that they both had successfully manipulated the H5N1. This causes a serious illness to birds but has so far been less infectious to humans. I found this source on CNN.com

The biggest question floating around the analysts was, "How did the Kindle Fire do?". Unfortuneatly, they all knew that they weren't going to get that information from HQ. Found at Newsmap.jp: Amazon misses sales expectations.

  29. Minecraft is a very cool new game for the iPod touch and iPad. Minecraft is a very successful game because it’s not like a puzzle game that once you’re stuck on a level and it gets boring. Surveys show kids want to be able to have fast goals and be able to have more freedom and meet there goals the way they want to. Minecraft allows you to do what you want, but there are still many goals and things you can work to. Minecraft is totally an app that gives you freedom. It has no in-game instructions and no tutorial. Many times people who just start playing tend tend to think “What now?” The only way to figure it out is to keep playing and figure out a way. All in all it’s a survival story and you can see if you have what it takes.
