  1. The Iowa caucus takes place in early January in the state of Iowa. Normal people of voting age are invited to come see representatives of those who wish to run for election speak. This usually takes place in an average building like a school, church, and sometimes someone's home. After everyone has spoken, the listeners are encouraged to vote. Iowa is one of the few states to hold a caucus, but the rest hold similar ballots. Iowa has the first chance to voice they're opinions about who they want to be their candidate.

  2. This caucus involves the people in the state of Iowa. The people meet together in small groups, generally by neighborhoods, at a designated place. Such as a high school cafeteria or library, etc. Once they are all together, everyone who wants to speak on which candidate they will vote for in the election. Those who speak are going to convince the other people of that caucus to vote for the speaker to move on as a representative of that candidate. Those who are voted will then move on to a higher level caucus, to further represent there candidate.

  3. The Iowa caucus is held on January 3, 2012 this year and it is the first of many presidential events that will end on November 6, 2012. This year the Iowa caucus will help select a Republican candidate for the Presidential nomination because Barak Obama is Democratic and rerunning for President, no other Democrats can run. There are nine Republican candidates running, Michele Bachman, Newt Gingrich, Jon Huntsman, Gary Johnson, Ron Paul, Rick Perry, Buddy Roemer, Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum. People usually cast their vote at their counties schools, church or public library. You usually cast your vote by writing you choice of candidate on a piece of paper or by a show of hands.

  4. The candidates in the Iowa Caucus are: Newt Gingrich, Jon Huntsman, Gary Johnson, Ron Paul, Buddy Roemer, Mitt Romney, Michele Bachmann, Rick Santorum, and Rick Perry. Iowan residents can vote if they are of voting age (18 years old). If they are 17 years of age, they can vote if they will be 18 by the time of the general election (Tuesday, November 6th 2012). You must also be a registered Republican to vote. The Iowa Caucus is the first progression in who will be candidates for the Presidential Election, and who will run against President Barack Obama in the election. The only candidates that have won the Iowa Caucus that have won the presidential election are George W. Bush in 2000 and Barack Obama in 2008. Since Obama is running for president again, and he is a Democrat, only Republicans will be invited to the Iowa Caucus. People will take private votes and discuss who should be the Republican nominee for president. The winner will be revealed January 4th 2011. This event takes place in the 99 counties of Iowa. The Iowa Caucus took place on January 3rd, 2012, at 7:00 P.M.

  5. The Iowa Caucus takes place in Des Moines, Iowa, usually in the first part of winter, prior to the next presidential race. Iowa's caucus draws a lot of attention to a usually quiet, largely agricultural state. The simplest reason is that Iowa is the first state in the nation to have a chance to show its support for candidates. The Iowa caucus is so important that some candidates bow out of the race if they do poorly in Iowa. The people who can be in the Iowa Caucus are anyone who wants to run for president. The people in this year’s 2012 Iowa Caucus are Mitt Romney, Rick Perry, Buddy Roemer, Jon Huntsman, Gary Johnson, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, Michele Bachmann and Ron Paul. People will hear representatives of each candidate give short campaign speeches, and then they will be encouraged to vote. The voting is usually done by secret ballot. The caucus has been used since Iowa became a US state in 1846. It wasn't until 1972, however, that it took place in early January. Whoever “wins” this will have a second test in seven days when the race moves to the state of New Hampshire. The results from the Iowa caucus tell a candidate whether they are ready to move on or drop out of the race. That test comes from real, everyday people/voters.

  8. The Iowa caucuses are for President Nominees. It helps decide who will represent the Democrat and Republican Party. People vote on who they want to run for the presidential election next November. Barrack Obama is seeking his second term in office, and no one is opposed. This is why only republicans are participating this year. This happens all over the state of Iowa. Anyone over the age of eighteen can vote, unless you are seventeen but will turn eighteen before the date of the election. These votes take place in 1,784 locations all over the state of Iowa. Usually these are schools or churches. They have this event to start to see who will run against Barrack Obama in the 2012 election. This event is held on the third of January every four years when there will be a presidential election.

  9. The Iowa caucus is a voting process, to help select the candidates for the presidential election. Iowa held its caucus today (January 3, 2012). Voters chose who they want to run against Obama in the final election. They are choosing a Republican this year, since Obama is Democratic. This year there is 9 candidates. The results are often very close. First, everyone meets at a specific meeting place. There is a place in each town, county, or sometimes even neighborhood. The first thing that usually happens there, is that representatives give a short speech about their candidate of choice. Then, everyone will vote. Usually the election is done by secret ballots, but sometimes it can be as simple as a show of hands. Anyone age 18 and over can vote. Also, if they are 17, but will turn 18 before the final presidential election, they can participate in their caucus. It is held at the beginning of the year. Why does Iowa participate first? In 1972, Iowa held its caucus first and every year since. Therefore, they hold it first as a tradition. The Iowa caucus, and all other elections, are important, because they give people a chance to share their opinion, show what they believe, and to get involved with our government.

  10. The Iowa Caucus is an election that leads up, eventually, to the presidential election. This contains nine candidates. People that can participate have to be at least eighteen by Election Day and have registered as members of the Republican Party. The people who vote choose who they think would be the best Republican candidate for Iowa. They choose a place to have a voting held in each district within the state which usually is a popular place that is well known. Iowa became a state in 1864 which is the year that the caucus started. Michele Bachmann, Newt Gingrich, Jon Huntsman, Gary Johnson, Ron Paul, Rick Perry, Buddy Roemer, Mitt Romney, and Rick Santorum are the candidates that will be running this year in the election. This year there is a really tight competition but as of now Mitt Romney is ahead. The candidates will give speeches to convince other people to vote for them.

  11. The Iowa caucus is a gathering of everyone in Iowa to vote on the representative they want as candidate for the presidential election. As the politician is speaking, people try to persuade others to vote for that candidate. The Iowa Caucus is the first major electoral event in the presidential election. It is also the event that has the biggest say on who will be running for president, and has been that way ever since 1972.

  12. The Iowa Caucus will be the first step to decide which Republican Presidential Candidate will oppose Obama in the 2012 presidential election. Some of the candidates in this year's Caucus are: Rick Perry, Mitt Romney, Ron Paul, and many others. The favorite to win is Romney, but only by a little. The winner of the Caucus does not always become the Candidate though, sometimes someone else does. So even though the Caucus is important it does not finally decide who the new Presidential Candidate will be.

  13. The Iowa Caucus is held to tell who the state of Iowa wants to see be the republican runner in the presidential election. All citizens, in voting age, come to have put their input in by secret ballot. The voting age is 18, but they may vote when they are 17 if they will be 18 by the time of the general election. They must also be a registered member of the republican party. The voting usually takes place in a school, church, or public library, but it may be held at someone's home in Iowa. They hold this election in early January. The reason they hold this then started back in the 1970's. The democrats had a hope of gaining attention and to challenge their president, at the time, Richard Nixon. Nixon was a republican. It was 14 years later when the republicans moved it too the same day as the democrats.

  14. What is the Iowa Caucus? This is what i thought when I was told to write about it. It's when citizens across the state of Iowa come together on a scheduled night at a scheduled time to come and listen to the candidates to give a short speech, and try to win the most votes. They then vote, usually by secret ballot. They have to be 18 or older to vote, but you may vote at the age of 17 if you will be 18 by the end of all presidential events on November 6, 2012. The candidates (Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney, Michele Bachmann, John Huntsman, Gary Johnson, Rick Perry, Ron Paul, Buddy Roemer, and Rick Santorum) came together today (Tuesday, January 3, 2012) to see which one of them would be chosen as the the winner of the vote.

  19. The Iowa Caucuses are the first step in the U. S. Presidential nomination for both parties. in the caucuses, the media closely follows the candidates which gives this event much publicity. This year's caucus was held on January 2 in many different locations within Iowa's 1774 precincts. Some of the locations included schools, libraries and even homes. This years candidates included Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum, Ron Paul, Newt Gingrich and Rick Perry. Mitt Romney beat out Rick Santorum by only 8 votes in a very close race. Because there is so much publicity, these caucuses are often seen as the early indicator of who may get the party nomination to run for president. This year Barack Obama ran uncontested in the Democratic caucus because he is the current president and no one challenged him. The Iowa caucus is only the beginning of what looks to be an interesting presidential race.

  20. The Iowa Caucus is one the first electoral events in the presidential election. This year it is a republican caucus, since it would be political suicide for a democrat to run against Obama. There are seven politicians running this year: Mitt Romney, Rick Perry, Ron Paul, Jon Huntsman, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, and Michele Bachmann.
